Inspired by the classic "Greetings From..." postcards, we decided to try our hand at redesigning the famous cards that populated souvenir shops across the United States for more than a century!
The "Greetings From" style of cards, originally developed by multiple companies like Teich and Tichnor Brothers, came to popularity in the U.S. during the 1930's and 1940's. The two firms among many others, created hundreds of thousands of these designs that represented almost every single town and city in the country. The postcards and designs have gone onto be a cultural phenomenon, including being featured on famous records and landmarks. The designs have remained mostly unchanged, until now.
At Next Chapter Studio, we took the classic motif and added a new colorful spin and modern take on the retro cards, highlighting the new designs with poppy gradients and halftones. Printed on Riso, we harnessed the bright colors of the soy-based Riso inks to craft a new Risograph version of the original cards from twelve cities and areas across the USA to start.
- New York
- Los Angeles
- Kansas City
- Tampa Bay
- San Francisco
- Asbury Park
- Coney Island
- Manhattan, KS
- Grand Canyon
- The Southwest
